In October, 2015 I was in Las Vegas for AWS reInvent conference. One of the things I wish I had time for was visit the natural areas around Las Vegas. This time (March, 2016), however, we rented a car at Harrah’s and went hiking in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Rock_Canyon_National_Conservation_Area). There is no way to properly capture the beauty of the Red Rock, no way to pick a perfect lens or a perfect camera. You need to be there to fully appreciate it. Note on the workflow: I am glad I took these photos using RAW+JPEG format. Normally I only shoot JPEG, but since I only recently got the Olympus PEN-F I wanted to be on the safe side and have RAW available to me. Somehow in the JPEGs the camera subdued the colors and blew out the highlights. Reds weren’t as red as I remember them, for instance, and the sky had more texture to it. Luckily, RAW had all that information and so I was able to easily post process the files in Lightroom.
